Description: On Labor Day in 1952, democrat presidential candidate, Adlai Stevenson, went to Flint, Michigan to make a campaign speech. A photographer snapped one of the most iconic political photographs in American history that day, of Stevenson seated on the stage waiting, marking notes on the text of his speech, but captured with a big-ol'-hole in the sole of one of his dress shoes. Republicans made a field day of warning Americans that voting for another democrat after twenty-years of them in the White House, would cause people such hardships that they couldn't even afford decent footwear. Meantime, democrats grabbed that image as their badge of honor, even making hole-in-shoe lapel pins one would receive for a donation to Adlai's campaign like this little 1" x 3/8" example. We DO NOT believe the clasp part on the back is the original one, but sure don't want anyone to get stabbed and get tetanus, so we're using it for you. We even have a pro-Eisenhower mini-poster mocking Stevenson and a small poll or palm card on a theme like this for sale in our eBay store. This is in nice condition, but please look at our images to judge this for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay says we won't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. Shipping on this will be $5.85, carefully packed with tracking. 9519
