Description: Beautiful and delicate 1950's Italian Zanfirico art glass finger bowl. It is square or diamond shape, depending how you look at it and a round 2 1/2 inch diameter bottom. The top measures 5 1/2 inches point to point, or 4 1/4 inches square and stands 2 3/4 inches from top of the lip to the base. The base has a slight inward hump. There is a rough (and quite sharp) pontil mark on the bottom. The top of the bowl has four delicate arches which meet at the corners with a spout-like design. This stunning Venetian glass finger bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Decorated with alternating stripes of white criss-cross latticino/zanfirico strands, some trimmed in thick copper aventurine.Zanfirico glass technique as described by the Corning Museum of Glass: (Italian) A type of polychrome cane made by assembling a bundle of rods of different colors, and heating it until it is soft. The bundle is then attached to two pontils and elongated by drawing apart. At the same time, the bundle is twisted to produce a spiral pattern. Please look closely at the pictures. There are no chips or cracks on this piece. There are tiny air bubbles caused during production. Please contact us with questions. Thanks for looking!
