Description: 1949 W T Copeland & Sons (Spode) round floral design cabinet plate Pansy, pattern # 2371/6 and signed by the artist Arthur Ball.Produced in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Hand painted in multiple colours on a creamy white background with a wonderfully tactile arched, fluted border. In excellent original vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify. The colours remain bright, clean and vibrant. However, there is crazing and mild discolouration on the back, and tiny random kiln fleck marks, a feature of age and inherent in china production technology from this period. Dimensions: 23 cm diameter. The reverse of the plate bears the Copeland Spode England back stamp; an impressed company cypher; an impressed date code N49 which denotes Nov 1949; hand painted pattern number and the design description.
