Description: 1949 Guernsey Four Doubles Coin in Display Case GUERNSEY 1949 "H" Four doubles. Guernsey retained the French currency until 1921, the 'Double' was derived from the French "double tournois" with the four double coin being roughly equivalent to a British Halfpenny. The reverse depicts the denomination and the obverse shows the Coat of Arms of Guernsey. The coin was struck in bronze, 26.5mm in diameter, by the Heaton Mint, later The Mint Birmingham Ltd, and show the "H" mint mark on the reverse. Only 19,000 of these coins were struck, the lowest mintage of all the Guernsey four doubles coins. The coin is housed within a display that is held in a slide open protection case, sized 64mm x 64mm. The display and case are in New/Mint condition and the coin is in EF (Extremely Fine) with Lustre condition. Our manufacturing process includes a precision laser cutting method to create the necessary holes in each display for the required coins to be inserted and held, safely recessed, in the correct position. This would make a wonderful gift for a coin collector. The coin can be removed from the protection case if so desired.
