HISTORY of HATEUY BREWERY Hatuey Brewery, originally known as Santiago Brewing Company, was founded in Santiago de Cuba and acquired by the Bacardi family in 1918. This acquisition marked the beginning of Bacardis expansion beyond rum production. By 1926, Bacardi converted the brewery to produce a Cuban beer, launching the Hatuey brand, named in honor of the Tachief Hatuey, a symbol of Cuban resistance against Spanish colonization. The beer quickly gained popularity and was marketed as "The Great Beer of Cuba." Hatuey became known for its high quality, attributed to German brewers and American consultants employed by Bacardi to refine the brewing process. Hatuey Beer reached peak success in the mid-20th century, commanding a significant portion of Cubas beer market and becoming a staple in Cuban culture and celebrations. Its popularity was reinforced through clever marketing strategies, like offering ice blocks to keep the beer cold, which was unique on the island at that time. However, after the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the Bacardi company, along with Hatuey operations, was nationalized by the new regime. Production ceased until Bacardi relaunched Hatuey outside of Cuba, initially in the United States in the 1990s as a way to revive the brands legacy among Cuban exiles and international markets. Today, Hatuey remains an emblem of Cuban cultural heritage, celebrated for its historical significance and quality. It is enjoyed by Cuban communities worldwide, and in recent years, Bacardi has even released limited editions of Hatuey beer to honor its storied past. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ PLEASE USE THE EBAY "CONTACT SELLER" FUNCTION TO CONTACT US AND RESOLVE ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING FREE SHIPPING ON THIS ITEM TO DOMESTIC ADDRESSES ONLY INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING AVAILABLE FOR SOME ITEMS ~ CONTACT US FOR A RATE QUOTE BEFORE BIDDING WE NEVER CHARGE A HANDLING FEE & ALWAYS OFFER COMBINED SHIPPING >>>>>
