Description: Lot is for a great unused vintage 1940's large ink blotter card (B564) that is a salesman's sample card. This one features 1940's pin-up, glamour, good girl art by Billy DeVorss--This is a beautiful blonde in a black strapless dress wearing a white fur and with gold jewelry with a red background. Billy DeVorss (d. 1985): From the 1930s to the 1950s, DeVorss' lush pastels (and occasional oil) graced mutoscope cards, prints, calendars, fans, postcards, even punchboard games. Ad art ran in Esquire in the 1940s. He also created cover work for Flirt, Eyeful, Beauty Parade, Titter and others. Card measures 8 1/2" by 3 1/2". The top half features the artwork; the bottom half (bordered by two dark green bands, has the blank where a company's information, logos, images would be printed by the ink blotter company. The back is solid light green blotter paper. Card is firm and in beautiful unused shape. A great vintage mid-century collectible for fans of art, advertising, or this artist.
