George Duke of Kent. London, England. The Duke of Kent, brother of King George, obtained the King's special permission to join the Royal Air Force, with the rank of Group Captain. The Duke who was formerly in the Admiralty Intelligence, numbered among his titles that of Air Vice Marshal, but he asked the King's sanction to be allowed to join the fliers in a working capacity. This is the first photograph of "Captain" the Duke of Kent. He is on the right, walking with Group Captain Ellwood.Photo measures 6.5 x 8.5inches. Photo is dated 6-1-1940.
