Description: This week I'm offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets. The Mutoscope card company was the main competitor to the Exhibit card company, issuing large quantities of these 3 ½ x 5 ½ blank-backed photo cards on heavy card stock, sold in penny arcade machines throughout the nation, from the mid-1930s (if not earlier) to the late 1940's. Mutoscope specialized in "girlie" cards in the early Forties, producing several sets of cards utilizing the beautiful pin-up artwork of such noted commercial artists as Gil Elvgren and Zoe Mozart. As cheesecake artwork, it's pretty tame by modern standards, but young boys must have sought these out eagerly back in the day. Here I have an example from the "Glamour Girls" series of 1940, titled "Water Proofed." It's in very nice condition, with no creases (see scan). This would be a terrific addition to any collection! Shipping will be combined for multiple winnings. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
