Description: Some people try describing these 8" x 2.5" paper items as bookmarks. But the consensus of opinion in our political-collecting hobby is that they are actually unused wrappers for those presidential campaign cigars one saw in stores back in 1940. Since one box had democrat Franklin Roosevelt stogies and another had republican Wendell Willkie ones, people could judge who might win the election by how many cheroots were sold for one guy over the other - who was the most popular. The fact that this experiment could help cause cancer didn't seem to matter. It was all in fun. And, at likely a nickel a piece, Havana special tobacco leaves probably weren't used in the manufacturing process, and these may have tasted like blech. So, only the hardest-up tobacco fiends would fire them up anyway. These are in nice shape but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. Remember, this stuff's called ephemera, folks, since it was made to be used and then discarded. So, we're just lucky to have things like this in any condition to add to our collections. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay says we won't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. Shipping on this will be $5.50, carefully packed with tracking. 9326
