This is an authentic, vintage (NOT a modern reprint) circa 1939 full color photogravure print from an image by the internationally renown German naturist photographer Kurt Reichert. Finephoto is pleased to have acquired a rare collection of full color photogravure plates from 1939 which represent the very first color outdoor nude studies to be produced in pre WWII Germany. During the 1930's color photography was in its infancy and due to the labor intensive process and cost, was seldom utilized - except for special projects. Kurt Reichert, known for a strong sense of aesthetics, tended to use physically fit "naturists" in his images including athletes, dancers and gymnasts. The Nazi regime both encouraged and promoted the idea of outdoor health, fitness and vitality along with the unashamed display of the naked body. In 1930's Germany, beautiful outdoor naturist images depicting men, women and children, basking in the sunshine, playing and exercising in "the great outdoors", were promoted as a national symbol of fitness, beauty and healthy family living.
