Description: 1937 Art Deco Bronze Medal 100th Anniversary of Savings by Dammann Obv/ A young Lady, on her knee to the right is looking at a Rose in front of her. She holds a Tulip against her right shoulder while she has a basket full of Flowers in the other hand. Up right (in Greek language) : "the Gift" (Offering). Right and left in the exergue : MCMXXV (1925) and signed by the Artist : M.DAMMANN Rev/ Within a large round cartouche : Caisse d’Epargne de Pithiviers" 1837-1937 Information and bibliography: This Large ( 3 inches 1/4 ) bronze medal was engraved by Marcel Dammann (1885-1939).He was pupil to Chaplain and has exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1907. Dammann received the Grand Prix de Rome in 1908, a second-class medal in 1914 and a first-class medal in 1921. He was selected for the position as Vice-President of the Société des Artistes Français and was created Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1925. In 1929 Dammann received a medal of honor at the Salon. His works are in the collections of the Musée de la Monnaie in Paris and in the Numismatic Museum in New York. A bit more about this piece: one was struck in 1925 (called " L’Offrande" -Offering) and later, in 1937 the die was also used for this medal struck for the Centenary (1837-1937) of the Savings in Phitiviers-Paris. 80mm I do not refund shipping on returned items!!!
