Gordon was a juvenile fantasy author whose works were released during the first two decades of the twentieth century. While there are signs of wear, the book is in good condition, especially given its age and young readership! This book is very sweet and includes "Suggested Helps" formulated by a New Jersey Superintendent of Schools at the time of publishing, as well as 15 charming, full-page color illustrations and several smaller in-text illustrations by John Rae. John Rae 1(882-1963) was an American illustrator who was well-known as an author and illustrator of children's books, although he also illustrated adult books for publishers including Harper's, Macmillan, and Dodd Mead. Rae was a member of the Society of Illustrators and other artists' groups. His portrait subjects included Albert Einstein and Carl Sandburg. He was Instructor of Painting and Design at Rollins College, Winter Park Florida, from 1935 to 1940.
