Description: "An astonishingly large portion of those trading common stocks don’t appear to know—in polite terms—one part of their anatomy from another." - Benjamin Graham Security Analysis Principles and Technique By Benjamin Graham & David L. Dodd 1934 First Edition / First Printing Association Copy, Signed by George L. Leffler George Leland Leffler was born in Maryville, Missouri, on January 11, 1899. He received a bachelor of arts from the University of Kansas in 1927, a master of arts in 1931 and doctor of philosophy degree in 1932 from the University of Wisconsin. He came to Penn State University in 1937 as associate professor of economics. In 1950 he was appointed professor of finance and assistant director of the Bureau of Business Research. From 1956 to 1958 he served as professor of finance and director of planning and assistant dean of research in the College of Business Administration. Leffler authored many books including The Stock Market (1951), Your Bank (1952), and Industrial Trends in Pennsylvania Since 1914 (1941). Leffler developed a new stock market system known as Modified Scale Trading especially for the use of small investors rather than large institutional buyers. Leffler died on February 14, 1958 at the age of 59 The book is a lovely high grade, collectible copy with just a touch of wear to the covers and a light stain near the base of the spine. The gilt on the spine is very bright, the corners are sharp, the boards are straight and unmarked, the pages are clean and the binding is tight. One of the finest examples we have seen in years. Few published works of the 20th century have exerted the influence or had as devoted a following as Security Analysis. Prior to its publication, investors often relied on intuition or the character of a business owner to make their decisions. Writing in the wake of the catastrophic stock market crash of 1929, Graham and Dodd designed "value-oriented investment," a disciplined, realistic approach to constructing a solid financial portfolio. Security Analysis was popular and well received when it was published in 1934, and it continues to shape the strategies and training of financiers and investors such as Warren Buffett and many others. The buyer will also receive a jacketed copy of Leffler's book, The Stock Market, 1951 (see picture). Please view my other listings. Thank you!
