The black numerals and the white dial strongly suggest a railroad watch.” 1934 ELGIN B.W. Raymond Grade 494 Pocket Watch This is an interesting timepiece: a B.W. Raymond Elgin Railroad Grade pocket watch from 1934. This manual-winding watch features an original Elgin caliber 494 movement with 23 jewels, size 16s, and model 15. The movement is finely adjusted for six positions and temperature, includes a lever set mechanism, a sub-second dial, and a wind indicator. Proudly made in the U.S.A., this model is part of a limited production, with only 1,000 units in this run and a total of 5,000 in the grade/model. Original white dial with large, bold Arabic numerals, bold minute markers, and substantial blue-steel hands, providing an easy-to-read, functional design perfect for railroad use. The wind indicator is located at the 12 o'clock position, while the sub-seconds dial sits at 6 o'clock. The dial is signed with the Elgin name. Encased in a 49.8mm round, beautifully engraved 10K yellow gold-filled case, this piece captures the elegance and utility of classic railroad watches.
