Description: 1932 Underwood Noiseless Portable working typewriter with case and documents. This gorgeous typewriter is in excellent condition, with no rust on its chrome and a beautiful gloss finish that comes with the case, the original owner's manual, the warranty, and a letter from the company it was purchased from. This a working machine, a work of art, and a piece of history! The owner's manual is in excellent condition and explains the various features unique to the Noiseless Portable. The warranty indicates it was purchased on August 12, 1932 from Parker Typewriter Company in Pasadena, California. The typed letter from the Parker Typewriter Company bears the company's crest and address and advertises the dealers and models of typewriters and adding machines they sell in the heading. The letter is dated to October 11, 1932, and it is the Parker Typewriter Company's response to the original owner's problem of type bars sticking. The writer of the letter tells the owner not to have "anyone not well experienced with Typewriters to attempt any adjustments" and ends the letter by stating "probably a little oil on the type bars will remedy the return of them." Unfortunately, the letter has been cut so that the heading displaying the company's name and details are separate from the typed body of the letter. Nonetheless, this is an amazing piece of history that records the story and origins of this particular machine. All keys work well, with none getting stuck and all returning. There is still some ink in the ribbon, and I have a sample of writing in one of the pictures. I have used it to write letters several times, but had kept it stored in its case when not in use. Very rarely I have noticed that a space will enter automatically after I hit a key, which can cause a break in a word or an extra space after a period. Every piece of the typewriter works, and it is nearly perfect as a usable machine, but could stand to be adjusted if intended for regular use. The case is in great condition with several small blemishes from use. It functions and locks, though there is no key. This typewriter is beautifully styled, looks pristine, works well, and comes with documents detailing its unique history.
