Description: Raggedy Ann was a character created by American writer Johnny Gruelle (1880-1938). Based on a doll created in 1915, the first stories appeared in 1918 and almost annually thereafter. RAGGEDY ANN IN COOKIE LAND was first published in 1931 and this book is a presumed first edition. It is a nice copy of a classic work of children's literature. Good condition. Pages are unmarked except for a penciled dedication on the fly leaf. Most pages are clean except page 14 has some dirt and a small tear (see photo). The last ten pages have a barely perceptible fold running down the middle. Binding is sound. Cover shows wear, bumps at corners and small losses on the laid-in paper image. The cloth spine is starting to separate along the back edge.
