Description: Vintage scrap book of a member of NYDIA TEMPLE, DAUGHTERS OF THE NILE, Portland, Oregon, 1930’s-1940’s. Daughters of the Nile, founded in 1913, is a benevolent global fraternal organization for women 18 years of age or older, who are related by birth or marriage to a Shriner, Master Mason, or Daughter of the Nile; or a Majority Member in Good Standing of a Masonic-related organization for girls. It has over 50 pages, is very nicely put together, and includes event programs and invitations, membership cards, cards, souvenirs and clippings; a couple of die-cut cards; 3 programs for New Years Eve parties of the Royal Order of Jesters, with comic illustrations; a 1940s United Airlines menu, greeting cards and some Daughters-related Xmas cards, some other odds and ends; and some really cool 8x10 b&w photos, including the Rose Banquet inside the Portland Masonic Temple in 1933; Queen & Officers of 1941-42 and of 1938-9 (2 different photos, each with middle-Eastern/Egyptian-influenced costumes, tapestries and Al Kader Shriner decor), and other photos of less interest. Album measures 12x15 inches; covers have minor scuffing, tight binding, no loose pages, only minor edgewear to pages, several loose items.
