Description: rare vintage 1930s (1700s-style) costume dress, made for the george washington bicentennial in 1932 (a nation-wide celebration which was held on the 200th anniversary of washington’s birthday, with the intention of helping to raise spirits during the great depression) official george washington bicentennial approved design, made of floral feedsack cotton and sheer white cotton voile there is an underwater of what feels like a moldable burlap - can be steamed and arranged according to preference to give varying degrees of volume to the skirt hip and/or “bustle” areaa wonderful piece of costume history worthy of any collection! very good condition. some fading to shoulders/bodice area shoulders 13.5” armpit seam to armpit seam 17.5” across waist 14” (or smaller, has ties) hips - free front length from HPS 54” sleeve 10.5”
