It is considered one of the most important bookbinding companies of the 20th century and famous for its jeweled bindings. Francis Sangorski (1875-1912) and George Sutcliffe (1878-1943) were the founders. After Sangorski died, Sutcliffe continued the firm, still known as one of the leading bookbinders in London. The business has gone through a number of iterations and ownerships, but is still in existence in London under the same name. (Wikipedia).
