Description: 1928 Wilmer Stultz Aviator Pinback Button, "Newfoundland To South Wales, On Seaplane Friendship, June 17 to June 18, 1928". Wilmer Stultz is better known for his March 5, 1928 flight with two passengers, on the "Columbia" Non-Stop From New York to Havana, Cuba, the first time it was done. Stultz was also the pilot on the "Friendship" June 18, 1928, as his passenger Amelia Earhart became the first woman passenger on an airplane. Stultz was killed the following year when his plane crashed at Roosevelt Field in New York while being intoxicated, along with two passengers who also died in the crash. Celluloid, 1 1/4" diameter, and in mint condition, with a small American flag attached. In addition to his picture and that of his airplane, there are a horseshoe, four leaf clover, and a wishbone pictured. Unusual and very scarce pinback button.
