Description: 1928 GATE KIYOMIZU DERA KYOTO JAPAN Duncan Hodges Silver Gelatin Photograph 9-3/4" x 12-1/2" Ships Worldwide Estate sale find. Fine antique photograph of 1920s Japanese life.I note that the photographer had mis-spelled the name of the site of this famous temple.I bought some of these prints years ago in Winter Park, Florida. They were from an exhibition at Rollins College focused (pun intended) on teaching photography. I was told that Duncan Hodges was an alumnus of Rollins and an instrumental figure in the exhibition. I can find nothing more about Hodges. His name is listed on the back of some of these prints, but not seen in the photos. I bought 8 mounted prints. Most still had their informative captions still attached. The image here has a little silvering, but is still in excellent condition. This is a wonderful print to look at! I like the women in kimonos and the men in Western suits. Nicer than pictures show! (I'm not a professional photographer!). Sold as-is. No returns Emailed queries welcomed!
