The play was written in 1919, and republished and re-copyrighted in 1927.This historical early 20th Century Book has red cloth covers. The title is written on the spine in black, and the covers each have a black artistic element. It is dedicated to The Lord Charnwood. It measures approx. 7-1/8" x 4-5/8" x 1/2" (≈17.8 cm x 11.7 cm. x 1.3 cm). John Drinkwater was born in Birmingham, England in 1882. His interest in drama dated to a time when we was part of a group of amateurs known as the Pilgrim Players. He has written a series of historical plays about other subjects such as the Trojan War, Mary Stuart, Oliver Cromwell, and Robert E. Lee. The plays are intended to be performed both as live performances, as well as for study in the classroom. Condition: This unique and intriguing book "Abraham Lincoln, A Play, by John Drinkwater" is in very good condition. The book was used in the classroom, so there is some wear on the ends of the spines, on the corners, and along the edges. inside the front cover AND on the first flypaper is stamped, "The Halsted School, 229 N. Broadway, Yonkers, 2, N. Y. In addition there is also a note that says, "Read intro. plus 1 scene of 1 act. Roy T." Also on the "List of Characters" page, a previous owner wrote, "42 Characters." The rest of the pages are clean, and we do not see any further marks or writing. The pages are whole, no tears or holes. A couple pages have mildly dogeared corners.
