Description: Bacon & Day Silver Bell No. 1 Tenor Banjo, circa 1925, in Excellent Condition, with a brand new head, The rim and dowel have a matching serial number (18717), which seems to date to the 1925 - 26 window. There are 24 tensioning hooks, a long style arm rest, adjustable pick guard, and the original Oettinger tailpiece which incorporates a fine tuner for each string. The neck is multi laminate Maple. The chrome flange surrounding the resonator has the more desirable f-hole cut outs and generally speaking, the banjo shows very little sign of wear and no signs of abuse. The fret board pearl inlays are lovely, as is the elaborate head stock I did replace the Grover tuners as they were getting worn. The pictures show the original pickguard which I removed but it and the original Grover tuners are included with the banjo if you want to reinstall or preserve the originals. I am also including two sets of new strings, a D'addario on board tuner and a Gold Tone leather damper for practicing. (over $100 in extras) This Silver Bell Tenor, a professional instrument in its time, comes in its original, green lined case. One latch is broken, but the other three are still perfectly functional.
