Description: CABARET PROGRAMS Click images to enlarge Description 1924......VIVE LA FEMME......ALBUM Listing here an early PARIS PLAISIRS a large format Album featuring one of the earliest (1924) cabaret shows that was photographed in color as well as black and white. Not only was the show and its cast extraordinary but the accompanying Album has a fantastic front cover with an eye catching image of girl kissing girl. For good measure, the photographer with his 1920s camera has produced some great images. The show featured in this Album was 'Vive La Femme' produced at the Palace Theatre in Paris. It pushed the boundaries of acceptable nudity on the stage and the act which drew the most attention and noteriety was Roseray and Capella, two acrobatic dancers. They are featured in the Album, in color in a two page spread, wearing very little round the waist (see photo 9). Wearing even less are the three ladies in photo 8; we can only see their bare backsides but there is anecdotal information that a strip of fabric was attached with glue to preserve their frontal modesty. Herman Haller, an avant garde German theatrical producer is said to have seen the show and signed up some of the French stars to perform in Berlin. Starring - Maurice Chevalier, Yvonne Vallee, Roseray & Capella. CONDITION We source most of our large format albums from bound volumes that contain six or seven Albums bound together. During the binding process, these Albums are trimmed and glued together; the glue affects no more than a centimetre. When we remove the individual Albums, it causes some damage - loss of paper, loss color at the binding edge and also some looseness of binding thread. BUT on the positive side, you get clean pages with no finger marks or dog eared corners and bright unmarked covers, apart from binding edge.
