Description: HISTORY OF WOMAN SUFFRAGE, Volumes 5 & 6 edited by Ida Husted Harper The final two volumes of a monumental 6-volume work, compiled over the course of nearly fifty years by Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and other members of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. The first two volumes appeared in 1881, the third in 1887, and the fourth in 1902. Twenty years later, after the battle had been won and women's right to vote established as the law of the land, these two volumes were published in 1922. Volume 5 primarily provides a detailed overview of the movement's history and ultimate success over the preceding two decades. Volume 6 discusses the movement in each state in the Union and its dependencies, plus suffrage movements in Great Britain and other nations around the world; there are also chapters on various Congresses held throughout the years. These hardcover first printings are ex-library books rebound in goldenrod buckram. They remain in quite good condition. The covers show very little handling; the bindings are strong. Library marks are few, with no markings to the covers; both books have card pockets, etc. inside the back covers. The texts are toned with age but otherwise have only minor flaws -- no writing, loose pages, etc. Certainly a very presentable set of this rare and valuable record. Each book measures 6.5"X 9.5"; xxiv + 817 & viii + 899 pages. Ships promptly & securely.
