Description: This is a strange one. Starting life as a 1920s Lyon & Healy "Own Make" Style A banjo mandolin, serial no. 478, the banjo hardware has been removed and the rim fashioned into a Gibson Army Navy style mandolin with the addition of kerfing, paper thin mahogany and maple veneers, and varnish. Weird. The veneers are cracked (as one might expect they would), but the neck and dowel stick are in fine condition, including the original tuners. The nut and other original hardware, however, are missing. Still, a good candidate for a restoration project or a donor parts instrument.
