Description: I have here for sale a RARE cookery book entitled LE REPERTOIRE DE LA CUISINE by Louis Saulnier. It was published in 1920 but does not have a title page so I am not sure who the publisher was. The book gives recipes and cooking tips under 12 different headings - Fonds de Cuisine; Garnitures et Sauces; Hors d'Oeuvre; Potages; Oeufs; Poissons; Entrees d'Abats, Entrees Volantes; Entreees, Releves, Rotis; Salades; Legumes et Pates Alimentaires; Entremets; and Savouries. The book is dedicated to the French godfather of cooking and Saulnier's mentor - L'Escoffier. It was intended to serve as a quick reference to Escoffier's Le Guide Culinaire and adds a significant amount of Saulnier's own material. Bound in maroon leather soft boards. As we expect with classic cookery books, it has been used extensively, repaired a few times and the boards reattached upside down! There are a few English newspaper cut outs stuck in the front few pages - Strand Palace Hotel, Regent Palace Hotel, the Savoy Hotel. Page edges darkened. No title page. Not sure how many pages it should have but think there might be one or two missing at the end. Endpapers either missing or ripped. Stains to pages. Condition: poor/fair but on the upside this book is absolutely unobtainable in this original form! 236 pages, 19 x 13 cm.
