1917 Antique M. Born & Co Chicago Black 100% Wool Tuxedo Tailcoat Size 44 AS IS

Description: The M. Born & Co Tuxedo Tailcoat is exquisitely crafted for the discerning gentleman. Featuring a classic black hue, this formal ensemble is designed with a sophisticated tailcoat that elegantly drapes over the back. Meticulously constructed from premium materials, this tuxedo embodies timeless elegance and style. Explanation of condition: "Fair Condition- Flaws and repairs that are visible. May need further repairs or laundering. Still wearable with care." This piece was recently dry cleaned, but in the process, the silk that covered the lapel and connected to the satin lining disintegrated. We removed it and found that the piece was still wearable with care even though the edge of the breast pockets are exposed. This piece would be perfect as a costume or for restoration by a tailor. In addition, there is some fading as shown in the last photo. The black wool isn't a deep black and under bright light takes on a green cast. Features:• The buttons on the jacket are just for show, the front does not fasten closed.• Union made? This piece pre-dates the industry wide decision to include union labels in men's clothing, which happened in the mid-1930s.
