Hough; Music by Jean Gilbert and Victor Hallender; Lyrics by Benjamin Hapgood Burt; Original German libretto "Die moderne Eva" by Georg Okonkowsky and A. Schonfeld; Musical Director: Ben Jerome; Music orchestrated by Charles F. Miller; Additional music by Ben Jerome, Victor Holländer, Otto Motzan, Jean Gilbert and Jerome Kern; Additional lyrics by William M. Hough, Harry B. Smith, Stanley Murphy and Charles Brown "The Modern Eve" is a typical operetta by Jean Gilbert. It had its world premiere on October 18, 1911 in the New Operetta Theater in Berlin. In the Jean Gilbert Libretto, the story of the operetta is presented as follows: "The plot is taken from Paris, because we don't have 'something like that' here yet. Namely, a female lawyer. Madame Niniche Cascadier is such a female lawyer, and a gruff of a woman, as well as wife and mother, naturally educates her female descent according to the principles of women's emancipation par excellence. One has become a painter and wants to renounce marriage because she believes she can create an existence without a man, the other has become a doctor and wants to cure men. Although she has no intention of testing her medical skills on her own husband. Between the three of them, the father of these little girls and the husband of the woman's lawyer, Monsieur Cascadier, shuttles back and forth without stopping. To Renée, the painter, there is a man who, despite all the warnings, wants to take a risk with her. He's rich and smart, and there He could win the heart of even a very modern Eve. But Renée, this modern Eva, resists until the clever mother has advised marriage because 'it's a good match after all'. But the rich, young man does not find the happiness he has dreamed of with his own wife; he therefore looks for it with someone else, but is caught, and now the lawyer-mother-in-law arranges for the divorce. But the defendant found salvation in his mother-in-law's own nephew, the lawyer Cibolet, who loves the pretty little doctor. Cibolet delivers a thundering philippic against Niniche Cascadier in court, wins the trial, and the result is Renèe's realization that one can be a modern woman and still be a loving wife. Cibolet had already put medical science out of his medical cousin's head before the appointment and called after her that kissing is better for her than curing the sick, since the little ones' science is on rather weak foundations. This is how things end on a personal note, especially since Monsieur Cascadier is accepted back into favor as a bon vivant after all sorts of adventures. Quick note on grading: The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise."EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing."VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing."Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise. These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment. Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.
