Description: Souvenir charm issued for the 1909 Portola Festival at San Francisco. 18mm, struck in Brass and Gilt, holed as made; the Obverse shows the Dancing Maiden logo of the event, the Reverse the Lord's Prayer as commonly found on similar period items. These were originally sold suspended from a small pin bar to be worn on a lapel, etc. Virtually ALL I have seen over the last 35 years of collecting Portola Festival material have been removed from the top bar (possibly to wear on a charm bracelet), or broken off. Either way, very scarce if in nice condition as the issuance worked against proper survival. This is an undamaged AU with much of the gilt remaining. Worth a premium if you are an at least fairly serious collector. The last sold on ebay (Sept, 2024) brought $30 and it was no better than EF with no gilt remaining. Price listed includes "free" shipping, which costs me about $7.00. 1109-04 Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase.
