A great find from a local New England estate! This scarce antique book is over 116 years old! Original publisher cloth binding shows wear as pictured, including a library catalog sticker pasted to the spine, light rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, general wear around the extremities including light bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and light rubbing and soiling to the page edges, including the gilt top edge. Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume! The gilt title lettering on the front board and spine shines brightly, as do the gilt embellishments. Internally, this volume is in good shape overall. The first plate has become detached from the binding, and the rear hinge shows moderate cracking, but otherwise both boards and all page groupings remain attached. This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, as well as the title page and copyright page. Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions. The text block of this volume is very clean throughout. There is typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and some general light edge wear in the margins, but otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings. Perfectly readable throughout! Profusely illustrated throughout.
