Description: For sale is an outstanding early American Impressionist watercolor painting by the Hoboken New Jersey artist Albert A Munro (1868 - Not much is found on the artist other than being a landscape artist in the Hoboken New Jersey late 19th century to early 20th century. One thing for sure. He could paint very well as this painting attests to This painting features a delightfully charming scene of two lovers on a stroll down a wooded path. The man with a classic period straw boater hat and satin blue blazer leads his lady for a daytime stroll. She wears a lovely flowing white dress with a matching color sash belt, cuffs and collar. In her left hand she clutches a bouquet of freshly picked wildflowers. Almost certainly freshly picked by her male suitor on their stroll. They walk towards a sun drenched tree lined path in pure delight enjoying each other’s company. The brush work in this watercolor is classic early American impressionism. The artist does an exceptional job of capturing the effect of sunlight piercing through the trees and foliage and drenching down onto the landscape. It also cascades off of their clothing giving them an almost ethereal appearance. This small gem is bursting with bright vivid coloration throughout. An exceptional early American Impressionist painting The painting is on watercolor board Signed and dated 1904 in the lower left corner. Condition: The watercolor is in excellent condition. The matting having some water stain to the lower right area as pictured. One picture frame glazing point visible. Definitely should be replaced with a new non-acidic archival quality matting.
