Description: Thank you for checking out this listing. It is with some reluctance that I'm offering a family heirloom for sale. The backmark on these items indicates that it was produced by Theodore Haviland & company. Some online research indicates that the production year was 1903 (the underlined Theodore is a clear indication, apparently). My grandmother was an avid collector of antique cup and saucer sets. She acquired these items before I was born. They may have had some limited use in her house, but she was not an especially social person (truth be told). My mother inherited them when I was a child and I can say with confidence that these items were never used in her house, but were instead kept strictly for display. So the wear that is evident on some of the handles - where the gold glaze has been worn away - largely took place in the first half of the 20th century, before these items came into my family's possession.
