Description: Old Ephemera Paper Pamphlet 1900 Portland ME Steamship Company "Gov Dingley" Steamer Route to Resorts LeafletBoston & Portland Maine SteamersTourist Rates, Maps, Schedules & Steamer Diagrams measures just under 8" tall by 4" wide as folded 13 page leaflet OF Historical Note:The Steamer Governor Dingley was built in 1899 by Delaware River Iron Shipbuilding and Engine Works at Chester, Pa. She was built to replace the Portland (which was lost in a storm in 1898). The Dingley was the first all steel screw steamer in regular service in Maine. She was named for Governor Nelson Dingley. The ship normally sailed from Boston to Portland and later to St. John. She was purchased in 1917 by the U.S. Navy for use as a training ship. The Dingley was dismantled at Baltimore, Maryland in 1933. Condition: The booklet is in good overall condition with specifically these small issues. The front cover has folding creases on front top right corner & the cover page has separated halfway up on the spine to bottom staple about 1" long. The 2 staples seem rusty in booklet.
