Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. Following the demise of Protar many years ago, Italeri has acquired their outstanding product line and have slowly been bringing them to market under the Italeri brand. This kit was originally released in the 1990s before Italeri repackaged it in 2020. This kit has plastic parts in several colors and a thorough instruction sheet, spectacular decals and leather fabric along with screws, springs and tubing for the finer details. I found dozens of listings for this kit on eBay (not surprisingly, most are from Europe and Asia), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this awesome kit: The Italeri site shows the contents of the kit with a dozen photos of the kit parts and two shots of a finished model, along with the following write up of the subject: Color Instruction Sheet – Rubber and Chromed Parts - Screws, Springs and Rubber Tubes During the 1980s ‘Paris-Dakar’ was one of the most important events for all fans of two and four wheels. In the mid-80s the German manufacturer BMW created a special series of the famous R80 GS motorcycle dedicated to this prestigious ‘off-road’ competition. Beginning with the chassis of the standard version which was much appreciated by customers for its solidity, robustness and reliability, the Munich based manufacturer made several more modifications and improvements. In addition to the technical innovations that increased the off-road and endurance capabilities such as the tires, reinforcement bars and the specific rider protection features, the most significant element was the large 32-liter oversized tank specifically developed for the special version. Great attention was also given to the bike graphics with the application of the famous BMW Motorsport three colours of blue, purple and red livery. The bike was produced in limited numbers from 1984 to 1987 and is still highly appreciated by collectors and two-wheel fans. Scalemates.com confirms that this is a 2020 release but makes no mention of the Protar history of the kit. There are several video reviews of this kit on YouTube. Sierra Hobbys Modelling Channel posted a lengthy (28+ minutes) Build Review that starts with a look at the box and instructions. We get a good look at the parts and have frequent narration and tips from the author. A great deal of time and effort went into the prepping and painting the model, with outstanding results. Being engineered by Protar, the kit goes together in almost the same way as the actual bike. A 10-minute Video by TheSavesoldier shows off his nicely competed model. He describes some of the lessons he learned in his build and talks about why he loves this kit. In the last minutes, he compiles a montage of photos taken during his build. This kit is in a beautiful, sturdy box about 14.5” x 9.5” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and is still sealed with the two original tape disks, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 250 grey, white, black, chrome and clear plastic parts, rubber tires, clear and black vinyl tubing, metal springs and screws, leather fabric and flexible mesh, along with a colorful sheet of decals and a 16-page instruction manual.
