Description: THE BAY PATH A Tale of Adventure and Romance When New England Was a Colony By J. G. Holland 1899 The Federal Book Company New York Hardcover, 399 pages First published in 1857. Historical novel by American newspaper editor Josiah Gilbert Holland (1819-1881), exploring themes of religious intolerance in 17th-century Connecticut. The subject of this book is William Pynchon, one of the founders of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and his family. The book is profusely illustrated with woodcut engravings, many more than shown in the sample pictures. This book also contains a handwritten genealogical outline of the Pynchon, Talcott and Weles families on the first front endpaper. I do not believe this is native to the book but done by a previous owner. The book is in nearly very good condition with a cover that seems to havevery little wear, good binding and slightly toned pages. 5" x 7 1/4" x 1"
