Description: From the papers of Rear Admiral Sir Richard Massie Blomfield, who was present on HMS Invincible at the Port of Alexandria during the bombardment of 1882. He stayed there for thirty years, and was heavily involved in the construction of the harbour as Comptroller of the Port, and retired as Director-General of Ports and Lighthouses in the Egyptian Government's service in 1908, when the Khedive conferred on him the first class order of the Medjidie. Has previously been mounted in a scrapbook, some remnants remain. I always describe items to the best of my ability, but please satisfy yourself and if needs be please request more information from me to confirm anything before buying. I don't crop items myself, and any that have been cropped are shown in the state that they will be sent out. I post all paper items protected and in proper card backed envelopes.
