It consists of the following parts: Part A - Inside the Turkish Empire, Part B - Outside the Homeland, and Part C. Zygmunt Miłkowski, pseudonym Teodor Tomasz Jeż (March 23, 1824 in Podolia Governorate, Russian Empire – January 11, 1915 in Lausanne, Switzerland) was Polish romantic writer and politician who struggled for independence of Poland as leader of Polish Union (Polish: Liga Polska). He became a member of the Serbian Learned Society in 1869, the society which preceded the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Zygmunt Miłkowski (Teodor Tomasz Jeż) was a gifted writer who struggled actively in fights for independence of Poland. Among others, he took part in the last Polish uprising against Russia in the 19th century. For a short time he was a leader of the Polish armed forces in Rus. After his resignation from the post he was ordered to organize Polish armed forces in Podolia. One of his ideas was so-called Moldavian expedition. This well-known event described by Miłkowski in his memoirs ended with the struggle with Romanian soldiers near Kostangalia (July 15, 1863). Having won the battle, the Poles were trying to cross the Prut river but had to surrender to Romanians. For a long time Miłkowski tried to explain why this plan failed and why his expedition did not succeed -------------------------------------------------- Ուսկոկներ գիրքը թարգմանած ռուսերենից տպված Պետերբուրգում 1895թ. ADDITIONAL INFO The Armenian Genocide From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Armenian Genocide—also known as the Armenian Holocaust, the Armenian Massacres and, by Armenians, as the Great Crime—was the systematic destruction of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during and just after World War I. It was implemented through wholesale massacres and deportations, with the deportations consisting of forced marches under conditions designed to lead to the death of the deportees. The total number of resulting Armenian deaths is generally held to have been between 1 million and 1.5 million.] Other ethnic groups were similarly attacked by the Ottoman Empire during this period, including Assyrians and Greeks, and some scholars consider those events to be part of the same policy of extermination. It is widely acknowledged to have been one of the first modern genocides,: as scholars point to the organized manner in which the killings were carried out to eliminate the Armenians, and it is the second most-studied case of genocide after the Holocaust. The word genocide was coined in order to describe these events. The starting date of the genocide is conventionally held to be April 24, 1915, the day when Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople. Thereafter, the Ottoman military uprooted Armenians from their homes and forced them to march for hundreds of miles, depriving them of food and water, to the desert of what is now Syria. Massacres were indiscriminate of age or gender, with rape and other sexual abuse commonplace. The majority of Armenian diaspora communities were founded as a result of the Armenian genocide. The Republic of Turkey, the successor state of the Ottoman Empire, denies the word genocide is an accurate description of the events. In recent years, it has faced repeated calls to accept the events as genocide. To date, twenty countries have officially recognized the events of the period as genocide, and most genocide scholars and historians accept this view...
