Description: A very handsome volume of the "Albion" Edition of the works of American Quaker poet and abolitionist, John Greenleaf Whittier. This copy undated but believed published circa 1894. Bound by A & F Denny, 147 Strand, in crushed half morocco and cloth-covered boards. Spine with five raised bands, gilt lettering and decoration to compartments. All edges marbled. Binding remains sound and firm with some wear to joints and extremities, spine a little sunned. Marbled endpapers, clean and bright, with prior owner's bookplate to front pastedown, binder's stamped signature to top corner verso of ffep. Text-block remains sound and firm. Some foxing to first/last leaves, inc. frontis and title-page, otherwise pages generally very clean and tidy. Please view images carefully to confirm condition.
