It is rare to find a trade card and a billhead featuring the same company and subject matter, but this one was a fun find! This set is for the company A.V. Smith & Co. manufacturers of harnesses and horse furnishings. Both are from the 1890's, with the billhead dated January 1894. The billhead is in excellent condition with no observable damage. It was once folded into a small square, but only the middle crease line appears noticeable. It features wonderful gaslight design and elaborate typography. The trade card is also in very good condition with a small amount of damage to the edges owing to the fact that it was once pasted--and subsequently removed--from a scrapbook. The remnants of the scrapbook page are still adhered to the back, obstructing any additional advertisement. It is nonetheless in great shape. Please see our photos for a closer look at this item.
