Heavy Die Scratches FS-401. A super variety with heavy die scratches across the face. One theory of how this was caused is by an abraided blank die. When the die was sunk the scratches on the face of the die were pushed into the die with the design. Another theory is that something fibrous got stuck between the blank die and the hub when it was sunk, pushing those strands into the die face. This is a great coin to study and come up with your own theories.
