The Sunset Club had minimal structure and charged no dues, but members had to approved by the Executive Committee. Members were charged $3.00 annually for stationary and printing costs and were expected to pay $1.50 for themselves and any guests when partaking of dinner. The Club rejected parlimentary rules, profanity, preaching, long speeches, excessive formality, and "irrational" forms of recreation. Members discussed such topics as "Is Medicine a Science?" "Should Congress allow the World's Fair to be open on Sunday?" and "Our Naturalization Laws." Highlights from their discussions were published in yearbooks and reports. 1891 Echoes of the Sunset Club of Chicago Papers Read & Addresses Delivered Description Up For Sale Today is Echoes Of The Sunset Club Comprising A Number Of The Papers Read And Addresses Delivered Before The Sunset Club Of Chicago During The Past Two Years Compiled by W.
