Scuffing and chipping to spines, but still legible. Fore edges in gilt. Dedication stamp on endpapers of all three volumes (1930 Presented by Will of M.B. Rich of Woolrich, PA. From his library to Annabelle Rich Leinbach). Title pages in black and red ink: red is still crisp. Minor toning, finger-staining, and age-staining throughout textblocks. Endpapers of vol. The Exposition Universelle of 1889, better know in English as the 1889 Paris Exposition, was a world’s fair held in Paris, France, from 5 May to 31 October 1889. It was the fifth of ten major expositions held in the city between 1855 and 1937 and attracted more than thirty two million visitors. The most famous structure created for the exposition, and still remaining, is the Eiffel Tower. The introduction in volume I includes two photos of the Eiffel Tower at the Exposition.
