Description: This fantastic card was issued by the ALLEN and GINTER. Tobacco Co. as an insert premium in their brands of Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1888. This card is from a fairly scarce series of 50 cards entitled , “NAVAL FLAGS ”. Designated N17 in Burdick's American Card Catalogue . The front of each card features a colorful Illustration of the particular Naval Flag, and a naval scene,, while the back features a list of all of the 50 cards in the series as well as advertising for Allen & Ginter of Richmond Virginia . The Lithography for the card is exceptional. This card features the VICE ADMIRAL FRANCE . The Card measures 2 ¾ inches by 1 ½ inches approximately. The card does have some corner and edge wear, but is free from major creases. I have scanned the card fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. Don't miss out on this over 120 year old piece. Being over 100 years old it qualifies as an official American antique.
