Description: This is a remarkable find- look at the detail of the coin in the pictures- what you see is what you get. In 1888, Canada didn't mint its own coins- they were usually minted at the Royal Mint in London. Canada opened the RCM in the 1920's.One of the unique things about these older Canadian coins is the pictures of Queen Victoria. I think it's safe to say that the queen didn't choose her design. What bothers me is that if you compare the coins minted around this time with Queen Victoria- there are four different engravings used for the queen- as she aged (see pic 4)- although I can't confirm it- I am assuming this is OBV 2- which is described as "Somewhat aged facial features: double chin and repressed upper lip."- When you compare it to the engravings of Queen Elizabeth (any coin from 1953 to 2023)- each showed a monarch aging respectfully- but the same wasn't given to Queen Victoria... anyway, I'm rambling.
