Description: Circa 1887 Victorian 3/4 Carat Ruby Wedding Ring Size 4.25 No Heat Natural Stone Circa 1887 Victorian 3/4 Carat Ruby Wedding Ring Size 4.25 No Heat Natural Stone Circa 1887 Victorian 3/4 Carat Ruby 14K Wedding Ring Size 4.25 No Heat Natural Stone Lovely Victorian era wedding or engagement ring featuring a natural no heat pinkish red ruby weighing about 3/4 carat in a raised prong setting. The ring is engraved inside the band and has heavy wear on it so that makes it difficult to read. The date says appears to read 1887, but I cannot confirm with 100 accuracy that is in fact the engraved date. This beautiful raised prong setting is in the style invented by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1886 which used a 6 prong setting. Unknown maker for the setting, the makers mark was either cut out during a sizing or worn out. This ring would make a fabulous alternative wedding ring for someone that loves antiques, loves rubies, and just wants to be different. Oval natural earth mined ruby measuring about 5.17mm x 4.46mm and an estimated depth of 4.25mm. The color of the ruby suggests it originated from an Australian mine, but the stone has not be GIA certified or reviewed, however, it has been GIA trained gemologist reviewed. Stone does have inclusion and does not have great clarity. I believe the scale puts this about an AA quality stone.
