Description: 1885 LIBERTY "V" NICKEL NGC MS 62 FULLY STRUCK SURFACES ARE QUITE ORIGINAL IN A DIRTY PEWTER PATINA WITH SOME CRUST AMONGST THE DEVICES. The patina still allows good luster, and the fields are nostalgic for their youth, when they were bright and reflective. A fantastically tough Key Date in this hugely underrated series. Just 1,472,700 nickels were coined in 1885, and apparently these were produced in just the first few weeks of the year. This represents just 4.3% of the total number of Liberty Nickels (34,243,200) struck in 1883, 1884, and 1885. Absent from the marketplace in affordable Mint State grades.
