Description: Nice Silver Coin 1885 AD 1293 AH year 10 Egyptian Two Qirsh Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II For your Egyptian Coin Collection-EGC798 Details Description: A nice very fine silver coin from Egypt. This is a two qirsh coin from the reign of Abdul Hamid II the Ottoman Sultan. The coin shows the sultan's tughra, a rose to the right and above the tughra and the denomination below it all surrounded by a foliate design with quivers on the bottom. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) with the number 10 for the 10th year of Abdul Hamid II's reign (translating to 1884-1885 AD) over the letter "Beh" on top and three stars above it all. There is also Abdul Hamid accession year of 1293 AH below it all on the reverse all within a wreath along the edge. It is KM 293 measuring approximately19 mm in diameter and weighing about 2.7 grams of 0.833 Silver. The coin has a reeded edge. It is marked with a "W" on the bottom of the obverse for the engraver Emil Weigand of Berlin. This is a rare coin in this grade being of such low denomination, which was heavily circulated and abused. Please carefully review scan as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 1884-1885AD - 1293 AH year 10 of Abdul Hamid II's reign. Mint: Egypt with the mark "W" on the obverse. Size and weight: This is a two Qirsh and is ~19 mm in diameter and weighs ~2.7 grams. References: It is KM #293. Condition: I would grade this coin as a good very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The coin has nice eye appeal. The coin is lightly toned with some staining especially on the reverse. The coin has scratches, some bag marks, and some minor dings to the rim. It is much better than the scan shows.
