Original manuscript estate book. Title, followed by approx. 120 pages of manuscript entries, mainly in black ink. Book is full with no blank leaves. Head of each page dated by compiler, spanning the period July 1881 to January 1911. Quarter leather over papered boards. Red-ruled pages. A couple of additional working sheets loosely inserted.Good condition. Binding quite worn, as one would expect from a working ledger compiled over a 30-year period. General edge-wear and some fraying to leather at foot of spine. Scuffing to boards with slight loss to top edge of rear cover. Paper has peeled away partly on rear cover. Light staining to front pastedown, but pages generally clean and bright throughout. This estate ledger shows rental incomes, taxes and outgoings over a 30-year period from 1881 to 1911, and was kept by trustee Lyman Mason. Provenance: found by us in a shipping trunk, transported to Liverpool in the mid-19th century, belonging to a member of the De Wolf / Meredith families - a wealthy Anglo-American ship owning dynasty - a branch of which emigrated back to England in the early 1870s. key words:
