SEE PHOTO----- COMPLETE, ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER, the New York Herald dated May 3, 1878. This newspaper contains prominent inside page "stacked" headlines and a long detailed report (2 columns of text) of the DISCOVERY of a new "Bonanza " mine at Broadwater, MONTANA. This would become famous as the "Marietta Mine." "Marietta Mine" is a past producer deposit site discovered in 1878 in the Rocky Mountain System of Montana, The United States. It is a small deposit, located in the Park (Indian Creek) mining district and is not considered to be of world-class significance. Gold and copper deposits are documented at "Marietta Mine." Gold is present at a grade sufficient to have a strong effect on the economics of an excavation project. It may even be viable as the only commodity mined. Copper can be economically recovered from this site but would have little effect on the viability of the mining project. This depost has opperated in the past as a small scale production but was closed at the time it was surveyed. There were no known plans to reopen it. The most important method or feature used in the discovery of economic minerals at this site was unknown. Production at "Marietta Mine" began in 1880. Very good condition. This listing includes the complete entire original newspaper, NOT just a clipping or a page of it. STEPHEN A.
